H-US-Japan will attempt to stimulate dialogues between authors of new books/articles and subscribers through online book/article reviews and responses from authors and audience alike. H-US-Japan publishes syllabi, outlines, handouts, bibliographies, listings of new sources, library catalogs and archives, and new publications in US-Japan relations. Resources selected from the H-US-Japan are collected here for list subscribers and visitors to our web site. From time to time the editors will sponsor focused discussion of a specific article, book or topical issue as a special Discussion Forum. H-US-Japan is an electronic publication. All postings will be permanently stored on-line, and may be quoted and cited. We encourage the republication of H-US-JAPAN postings for non-profit educational use, and ask that proper credit be given to the author, H-Net, and to H-US-JAPAN, and that the date of posting be given.
The editors do not intend to edit postings in a heavy-handed manner. Their primary function, alongside sponsoring the occasional Discussion Forum, will be to maintain civility and focus by rejecting extraneous postings and postings with inflammatory language. To limit the quantity of postings [and maintain quality], undergraduate students will in principle be excluded from membership. While the list is bilingual, we will assume that all participants can read English, and hence request that all postings have a clear English subject heading. If possible, however, those posting in Japanese are requested to begin with 1-2 sentences in English (and vice-versa).
Message logs and more information about H-US-JAPAN may be obtained at its web site, linked from the H-Net web site:
