H-SHGAPE, the e-mail discussion list for the Gilded Age and Progressive Era, is sponsored by H-Net (the parent of many e-mail discussion lists in history and the humanities) and by SHGAPE, the Society for Historians of the Gilded Age and Progressive Era.
SHGAPE was formed in 1989 to encourage and facilitate research and teaching on the Gilded Age and Progressive Era. It is an affiliated society of the American Historical Association and regularly sponsors sessions at the AHA, OAH, and other major meetings, has an annual luncheon at the OAH, and presents social hours at both the AHA and OAH meetings. SHGAPE also publishes a hard-copy newsletter that comes to members via surface mail. H-SHGAPE first came on-line in mid-April 1994, following approval by the SHGAPE Council at its session during the OAH annual meeting.
