The Marshall Fishwick Travel Grants to

Popular Culture Studies/American Culture Studies Research Collections

 

The Endowment Fund for the Popular Culture Association and the American Culture Association announces 3 Travel to Popular Culture Collections Grants for 2007 @$750 each.

Each grant can be used for travel, lodging, and research-related expenses while on-site.

Grant applications must include the following:

1) name and affiliation of grant applicant;


2) identification and location of a specific Popular Culture Studies or American Culture Studies collection and its contents;


3) narrative statement of the overall focus, purpose, and research methodology of the project;


4) reasons for which on-site research at this collection is needed or desirable in terms of the project;


5) projected outcome, use, or application of the research project (book, article(s), completion of dissertation, curriculum or course development, exhibit).


The deadline for receipt of applications is December 31, 2006 Grant money must be expended before the end of the 2007 calendar year. Applicants should include a copy of their abbreviated CV.


The purpose of these grants is to encourage and support research grounded in and based on popular culture and American culture materials and primary sources. Collections can be located in libraries, museums, historical sites, or archives.


The grants are named after the late Marshall Fishwick, one of the pioneers in the study of Popular Culture Studies and American Culture Studies who was one of the founders of the Popular Culture Association. Please submit electronically to: (michael.marsden@snc.edu)
