  1. Contents/Subjects/Collections: Information on public education in Mexico from the late Porfirato to the 1970s, but holdings are strongest from the mid- 1920s to the mid-1940s.
  2. Catalogues/Finding Aids: There are four different systems of classification, and none is very useful. Some of the employees know where to find materials; others don't.
  3. Procedures for Requesting Documents/Records
  4. Will do Searches Requested by Mail: No.

C) REPRODUCTION FACILITIES
  1. Photocopying
    a) Facilities (self-service or not): No self-service. Service can be irregular.
    b) Cost: Varies wildly! From 10 centavos to 1 peso each depending on the mood of the "licenciada."
  2. Microfilm: None.
D) FACILITIES
  1. Research Room: Roomy, adequate, will accommodate a lap-top.
    a) Facilities
    b) Rules: No smoking, no food, no drinks.
    c) Staff: Some are helpful and others are not.
  2. Computer Access: Tables can be moved near power outlets.
  3. Wheelchair Access: Yes.
  4. Toilet Facilities: Available, but water supply is irregular, electicity is often cut off, and toilet paper rarely available. Bring your own.
E) OTHER
  1. Public Transportation: Metro Isabel la Catolica or Pino Suarez
  2. Lodgings: Archive is located near Centro Historico -- plenty of options.
  3. Restaurants: Most of poor quality, as working class district. Try Talizman on 5 de febrero heading north from the archive -- my favorite.
  4. Other: Patience is a virtue and a necessity, but you will be rewarded as the holdings are great!
