How about one more little addition to the Longstreet discussion, which I've
enjoyed reading, by the way. I think another factor that led to
Longstreet being treated badly by the Lost Cause faithful after the war
was the fact that he cooperated with Republican state and federal
governments in the post-bellum period, even including, I believe (gasp!)
joining the GOP!
