There is a book you might want to find called English Medieval Industries
from The Hambledon Press, 1991. Chapter 4 is on tin, lead and pewter. There
is a history of the Devon/Cornwall region (tin mining there dates from c. 500
BC it says). The book says that "from about 1330 exports were dominated by
the Italians...forty years later the focus of the export trade had shifted to
Southampton" etc. The book refers to another book TIN by Hatcher.

Hope this helps!!

Ruth
