Is anyone out there interested in the Joint Neale and
Commonwealth Fund Conference on "The British Encounter with
Indigenous Peoples"? In particular, the call for papers lists
the themes "cultural perceptions and ideological constructions"
and "racialisation of native peoples" - themes of interest to
me.
I intend to submit a proposal abstracted from my
dissertation on "British Perceptions of the Irish
c.1840-c.1860" and would like to find a panel rather than apply
individually. Are any of you working on British perceptions of
colonial peoples, or do you know someone who is? I'd be
delighted for any information.
