If I were teaching the course I would begin with the accession of George I
and I would spend the first week or so giving students the necessary
background -- the Revolution of 1689, the culmination of the Wars of Louis
XIV with the War of the Spanish Succession, the union with Scotland, etc.
These are Stuart England. Then I would deal with the 18th century and built
towards the Reform Act of 1832 through the Industrial Revolution, the basic
changes in politics and society, etc.
