Currently, I am organizing a panel on transatlantic technology for the
1996 SHOT (Society for the History of Technology) conference in London
scheduled for August 1-4. Thus far I have assembled papers on the
marketing of nineteenth-century American inventions in England and on
a comparison of technical knowledge among American and British electrical
engineers in the 1870s. I need a third paper to complete this panel.
There are countless numbers of topics one could cover to round out this
panel. Do any of you do work on British invention? or the marketing of
British products in other countries? If you do work in an area that may
be appropriate please contact me as soon as possible. The deadline for
the submission of this proposal is fast-approaching.
