HISTORY: The department seeks a tenure-track faculty at the
assistant professorial level. The field is early modern
Europe. All region and fields within the appropriate time

The University of California, Irvine, Program in Women's Studies

The Women's Studies Program, established in 1975, currently
offers a B.A. in Women's Studies, an undergraduate minor, and a
Graduate Emphasis in Feminist Studies awarded in conjunction with
the Ph.D. or M.F.A. degree offered in the following departments
or programs: Anthropology, Art History, Drama, East Asian
Languages and Literatures, English and Comparative Literature,

Qualifications: Ph.D. in hand, broad knowledge and experience
in Women's Studies and a record of feminist teaching,
scholarship, and professional service, including curriculum
development, especially in Lesbian/Gay Studies. Interest and
experience in administration and program development

University of California and have a strong commitment to Lesbian
Studies as it intersects with race and ethnicity. Scholarly work

47) Position: Women's Studies

Applications are invited for the position of Director of the
Women's Studies Program at the University of Akron. The program
seeks a qualified scholar with a strong record of teaching,
research, and service. Rank is open.
The nine-month, tenured or tenure-track position is a joint
appointment with a department within the college of Arts &
Sciences. The successful candidate must have a terminal degree
and be tenurable according to the criteria of that Arts &
Sciences department. Preference will be given to those who show
evidence of scholarship and teaching in feminist theory and
third-wave feminism. Ability to mentor is a plus.
Women's studies responsibilities include administering and
teaching in the Women's Studies program, which consists primarily
of the undergraduate, interdisciplinary Women's Studies
Certificate. The expected starting date is August

52) Position: Fellowships
Institution: University of Adelaide
Location: Australia

The University of Adelaide's Centre for British Studies plans to
award a small number of visiting fellowships tenable at the
Centre between June 1996 and July 1997. The purpose of the CBS
Visiting Fellowships is to bring to Adelaide scholars working on
aspects of the culture and society, past and present, of the
British Isles, both to pursue their own research and to interact
with the local scholarly community. Members of the Centre for
British Studies are currently working in the field of
anthropology, geography, history, literature, politics and
women's studies. It is envisaged that most visiting fellows will
come to Adelaide for one month, the minimum period for which
fellowships are awarded, but longer stays may be possible. The
Centre reserves the right to vary the number and value of
fellowships awarded at its discretion.

In addition to office facilities, borrowing privileges at the
Barr Smith Library and temporary membership of the University of
Adelaide Club, visiting fellows will receive a grant in aid
ranging from $A500-750 (for those coming to Adelaide from
elsewhere in Australia or New Zealand) to $A2000 (for those
travelling from the northern hemisphere). Visiting Fellows have
no formal academic obligations, other than to pursue their
work in Adelaide, deliver a public lecture or seminar on their
work for the Centre, and provide a brief report to the Director
of the Centre at the conclusion of their tenure.
