Certainly, a high percentage of savannah slaves would have been
Muslim. That would be many of the slaves from Hausaland and from the
Senegal and Gambia rivers. It is doubtful, however, that Muslims were
majority even in those areas. The largest sources of slaves, the
Slave Coast and Central Africa had almost no Muslims. For one Muslim,
