Africa Research Central:
A clearinghouse of African primary sources
Gateway to the archives, libraries, and museums with important collections
of African primary sources. The focus is on repositories in Africa, but there
are also links to the web sites of institutions in both Europe and North America.
Basler Afrika Bibliographien
Located in Basel, Switzerland, this archive focuses on southern Africa and
publications originating from the region, especially Namibia. The collection
contains publications in European and African languages and emphasises the
social sciences and humanities.
Billy Graham Center Archives
Maintained at Wheaton College, Wheaton, Illinois, this depository contains
many collections with documents relating to African Christianity, African
indigenous religions and North American missionaries and evangelists in Africa.
The British Library, London
Provides an overview of the holdings of the British Library in London. Contains,
for example, printed sources, music, and photographs.
The
Æquatoria Archives Research Project
The web site of this research project provides informaton about the archives
of the Centre Æquatoria in the Democratic Republic
of Congo, including an online catalogue and document ordering instructions.
The archives contain material going back to the late 19th century and include
over 35 meters of archive boxes.
Herskovits Library Conference Paper Index
The Africana Conference Paper Index at Northwestern University is now available
to remote users. It indexes individual papers of Africana conference proceedings
held by Northwestern University Library in Western European languages.
The Mayibuye Centre for
History and Culture
Part of the dynamic University of the Western Cape near Cape Town, the Centre
focuses on apartheid, resistance, and the lives of South Africans marginalized
by apartheid. Mayibuye means "Let it return."
Presbyterian Mission Stations in Africa Archives
The Presbyterian Historical Society Archives in Philadelphia has documents
from Presbyterian Mission Stations in Africa, including correspondence from
African-American missionaries in Africa.
School of Oriental and African Studies
Provides instructions for carrying out a TELNET session with the archives
of the University of London's School of Oriental and African Studies.
Sierra Leone Research Services
Andrew Sankoh's organisation in Sierra Leone provides research services to
students/researchers overseas who cannot travel to Sierra Leone or who need
preliminary information about collections before deciding to travel.
