This new research school explores the values, emotions and habits which inform and inspire social formations emerging from the eighteenth century onwards in Europe, North America, and South Asia. The program is jointly run by the Max Planck Institute for Human Development, Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, and Technische Universität Berlin and provides a tailor-made four-year academic program conducted in English. In each academic year up to six highly motivated M.A. or M.Phil. graduates in history (or a related field) with an outstanding academic record and a strong interest in the relevant topics will be offered a doctoral fellowship. The call for applications will be sent out in summer/autumn 2012 for the first cohort of students, to commence studies in October 2013.
