The Linnean Society (London) will host an international conference January 12-13, 2012, that brings together scholars from the history of medicine, science, and the book, to discuss how practices of processing written information have shaped conceptions of the natural world in the past. The conference will investigate how day-to-day practices of assembling information on natural objects and their medical properties influenced taxonomic procedures, the developing idea of a natural system, and, in the long run, concepts of biodiversity and bioprospecting. For more information on the program and registration, visit http://www.linnean.org/fileadmin/events2/events.php?detail=299.
