The symposium seeks to present the newest research on American fraternal groups from the past to the present. Diverse perspectives on this topic are sought from a broad range of research areas. Possible topics include comparative studies, ethnically-, gender-, and religiously-based fraternal groups, material culture, approaches to Freemasonry, and the role of fraternal groups in social movements.

By August 15, 2009, submit an abstract of 400 words or less with a two-page resume to Aimee E. Newell, Director of Collections, National Heritage Museum, anewell@monh.org.
