A 3 year international PhD scholarship on the subject “Cultural encounters between India and the West after 1850” will be available from February 1 2007.
The PhD scholarship will be financed by the The Danish Agency for Science, Technology and Innovation.
The project is a result of collaboration between Institute of History and Area Studies at University of Aarhus and Department of Anthropology at New School, New York.
The PhD student will be enrolled as a PhD student at The Faculty of Humanities, University of Aarhus. The Student will spend approximately 1 1/2 year at the History Department, Aarhus University and 1 1/2 year at New School, following a schedule negotiated between the successful applicant and the supervisors. Supervisors will be associate professor Niels Brimnes (Aarhus) and professor Ann Laura Stoler (New School). The PhD student will be affiliated with The Danish PhD School in History.
The PhD student will be employed by the University of Aarhus.
