The American Academy in Berlin invites applications for its fellowships for the 2005–2006 academic year. The Academy is a private, non-profit center for advanced research in a range of academic, cultural, and professional areas. It welcomes younger as well as established scholars, artists, and professionals who wish to engage in independent study in Berlin for an entire academic semester or, in special cases, for an entire academic year. In the case of Bosch Fellowships in Public Policy, shorter stays of six to eight weeks may be arranged.
US citizens and permanent residents are eligible to apply. (All applicants must permanently based in the US.) Fellows are expected to be in residence at the Academy during the entire term of the award. The Academy offers furnished apartments suitable for individuals and couples and limited accommodations for families with children. Benefits include a monthly stipend, round-trip airfare, housing at the Academy, and partial board. Monthly stipends range from $3000 to $5000.
Application forms and further information can be obtained from the Academy or downloaded from our web site: www.americanacademy.de.
