The University of Alabama History Department is soliciting applications for the Bankhead Fellowship for faculty diversity to begin Fall 2003. This is a one-year position with the possibility of renewal for a second year. The fellow will teach two courses per semester in his or her field of specialization. Salary is competitive. Scholars in African American, African, African Diaspora, and ethnic studies are especially encouraged to apply. Candidates should have doctorate in hand, or must have completed all the requirements for the doctorate except the dissertation, which they should expect to complete during the first fellowship year. The history department is hopeful that the fellowship will lead to a more permanent position. Interested applicants should submit a cover letter, CV, brief writing sample, and names/contact information for three references. The applications should be postmarked no later than April 25, 2003.
