Call for Papers
Activating Human Rights and Diversity
Local and Global Voices
Byron Bay
1-4 July 2003
This international conference is for everyone who cares passionately about human rights, and who wishes to activate/re-activate human rights and their importance in the twenty-first century.
We hope the conference will provide a crucial and critical learning space for activating human rights and diversity in relation to the fields of law, culture, politics and health.
A major focus of the conference is to invite participants to exchange ideas and experiences about human rights, questions of diversity and their implications across these fields. The conference is interdisciplinary as well as activist in approach.
We especially welcome papers that engage with significant and often disregarded and unregarded areas of human rights activism.
We also invite papers which address relevant contemporary issues that have a significant human rights dimension.
Please send proposals for 20-25 minute papers, with a 200-word abstract by 3rd February 2003 to Dr. Baden Offord via e-mail.
The conference will have a mix of plenary sessions with invited papers, and panel sessions. The conference organisers welcome papers from academics, researchers, activists, community groups and policy makers.
OPTION: Please indicate with your proposal whether you wish to have your paper refereed. All papers, refereed and non-refereed will appear as conference proceedings in pdf format available on the conference website prior to the conference.
