The Gulf South History and Humanities Conference is an annual event sponsored by the Gulf South Historical Association, a consortium of Gulf South colleges and universities, including the University of South Alabama, the University of West Florida, Pensacola Junior College, the University of Southern Mississippi, Southeastern Louisiana University, Texas Christian University and Texas A&M University Galveston.
The 21st Gulf South Conference welcomes papers, panesls, roundtables, performances and workshops exploring all aspects of the history and cultures of the Gulf South.
The Association awards the William S. Coker Prize in Gulf South History for the best graduate level paper presented at the annual conference. The prize-winning paper receives a $250.00 cash prize and is eligible for publication in the Association's juried journal, the Gulf South Historical Review.
All proposals must be postmarked by June 15, 2002. Please send a brief c.v., the title of the paper and a short abstraft. Panels (three or more papers, a chair and/or commentator) must submit a c.v., paper title and short abstract for each participant.
